¤ Golconda Fort
The Golconda Fort was established by the Yadava dynasty of Deogiri
and Kakatiyas of Warangal and today it is one of the most popular tourist attraction of Hyderabad. This fort was named after the Telugu word "Golla
Konda" which means "Shephard's Hill". It was earlier a
mud fort and the Golconda received its present form by Qutub Shahi
kings. Today, it stands with a massive structure of granite.
The fort is famous for its acoustic system, palaces and ingenious
water supply system. It is said that the world famous diamond "Kohinoor"
belongs to this fort. A major highlight of this fort is a sound and
light show displayed in the evening. This show depicts the might of
Qutub Shahi dynasty.
¤ Charminar
The Charminar is a popular landmark of the famous Hyderabad places. It was
constructed by Mohd. Quli Qutub Shah in the year 1591 in order to mark
the end of plague in the city. This symbolic monument has four
dominating minarets each 54 meters high. They are adorned with carved
lotus buds and petals. There is also a mosque here.

Golconda Fort. There are almost seven Qutub Shahi kings buried in the
middle of the Ibrahim Bagh.

The Mecca Masjid at Hyderabad is located very near from Charminar.
This mosque was established by Sultan Mohd. Qutub Shah in 1614 and its
construction was completed by the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in 1694. It
is famous as the biggest mosque in South India. It is also known for
the arch of the mosque which has been built by the bricks brought from
the sacred city of Mecca. There are tombs of Asaf Jahi rulers in the
abutting chamber of the mosque.

The Salarjung Museum is one of the most famous museums in India. It
is one of the biggest one man collection of valuable antiques in the
world. There are almost 35 rooms in the museum. The Jade room of the
museum consists of exquisite objects that belonged to former Indian
rulers like Aurangzeb, Tipu Sultan, Shahjahan and the Asaf Jahis of
Hyderabad.

The Venkateshwara temple is popularly known as 'Birla Mandir'. It was
built on 280 feet high Kala Pahad. This temple provides beautiful
views of the Hussain Sagar lake, located nearby. It took almost 2000
tones of white marble to build this temple. This temple is a perfect
blend of north and south Indian style of architecture.

The Birla planetarium in Hyderabad is India's most modern

by lush greenery. It is one of the biggest Zoo in India with over 250

The Hussain Sagar Lake is an important place to visit in Hyderabad. It connects the twin cities of Hyderabad and
Secunderabad. It was founded during the reign of Ibrahim Qutub Shah,
by Hussain shah Wali, in 1562. The unique feature of this lake is a
statue of Lord Buddha with an height of 18 meter and weight of 350
ton. It is located on the rock of Gibraltar in the middle of the Lake.

musical fountain in the Lumbini Park situated within the lake area.
