Hindus
The name of this town comes from Jayanti, the goddess of victory.
The Pandavas built a temple to Jayanti Devi around which came up the
town of Jaintpuri. The name later morphed into Jind.
The town is one of the most important pilgrimages of Hindus in
Haryana, famous for its numerous temples and ghats like Sainath ghat,
Ram Rai ghat, Pushkpar tirth (pilgrimage), Bhooteshwar Mahadeva temple
and Varshu Ram temple. Jind is also the largest manufacturer of
furniture and other wood products in Haryana.
