Trip Around Chamba
¤ Katasan Devi Temple
About 30km from Chamba, this temple is a popular spot for pilgrims
which also offers great views of the charming Chamba valley.
¤ Sarol
An
interesting place for picnics, Sarol is only about 11km away from the
town centre. It has lovely landscaped gardens, a sheep breeding centre
and an aviary.
¤ Jhamwar
Located amidst dense forests, Jhamwar is noted for its apple orchards
(10km).
¤ Saho
Situated on a high plateau on the banks of the river Sal, it is famous
for the temple dedicated to Lord Chandrashekhar (who is none but Shiva
the Destroyer wearing his moon crown). Saho is about
20km from Chamba.

About 56km from Chamba, lies Salooni (1,829m) which offers
breathtaking views of the snow-capped ranges.
¤ Bhandal Valley
Just 22 km from Salooni is the beautiful Bhandal Valley (1,730m)
with its wealth of wildlife. It is the western extremity of the state.
A route from here via Langhera takes you to Kishtwar (in the Kashmir
Valley). With a rest house, the desolate Bhandal makes for a very
different kind of retreat.
