Keylong Travel Guide
¤ Keylong-- An Administrative
Headquarters of Lahaul
Distance : 117 km from
Manali
Altitude : 3,350 m.
Climate : Dry and very cold
An English traveller aptly described Keylong as "a rough cut
emerald in a bronze and silver setting." The brown hills and
snowy peaks are indeed a pleasure to behold. Set amidst fields of
barley and buckwheat in patches, Keylong gives the impression of being
a land of abundance in the otherwise starved region of Lahaul.
Once the home of Moravian missionaries, is the administrative
headquarters of Lahaul.
The local deity worshipped here is Kelang Wazir, a Tibetan god.
Among other things Keylong is home to Tibetan Centre for Performing
Arts.
¤ Accommodation
Keylong has more to offer in terms of accommodation than any other
place in Lahaul. Try the PWD rest house and the Tourist Bungalow run

expensive. You could even put up at one of the Swiss cottages.
