Sunderbans

¤ The Lush Green Forest of India

Sunderbans are the forests where the Ganga and the Brahmaputra rivers finish their last lap on land before flowing into the Bay of Bengal.
The delta covers an area of 75,000sq km. Dominated by the port of Calcutta, the area is crisscrossed by hundreds of distributaries of the two mighty rivers. The land is saturated with salt, and nature is extremely hostile here, with the weather fluctuating from humid to scorching hot.
