Khajuraho Temples were believed to be constructed by the mighty Chandela rulers in 9th to 10 the century AD and are the perfect example of Indian art and culture. The sculptures are highly sensuous and erotic. These sculptures showcases the unique posture of Kamsutra. Out of total 85 temples, only 20 temples have survived.

If we focus on lay out, Khajuraho temples are aligned east and west. The temples are followed by a three or five part floor plan. The larger temples premises have ardhamandapa (porch), then a mandapa (hall) leading to a mahamandapa (main hall) from where an aunterale (vestibule) leads to the Garbha Griha (sanctum) containing the devta (god) or devi (goddess).
