Hanumangarh Fort and Temples

¤ Bhatner Town

*The fort is the chief attraction of the district and is of great historical value.

*It was ruled by Bhatti Rajputs for a long period and for a short spell was under the Turk Timur the Lame, who wrote in his autobiography Tuzuk-i-Timuri, that he had not seen a stronger and more fortified citadel in the whole of India.

*It was in 1527- the fourth ruler of Bikaner Maharaj Jait Singh annexed the fort & it became part of the Bikaner empire.

*After passing hands many times between Mughals & kingdom of Bikaner, it was captured in 1805 finally.


¤ Bhatner Fort

Bhatner fort which is the chief attraction of the district is huge and of great historical value. Even Timur wrote in his autobiography Tuzuk-i-Timuri that he had not seen a stronger and more fortified citadel in the whole of India.


¤ Temple Attractions

Hanumangarh also houses six temples of great artistic beauty namely the Hanuman Mandir, the Karni MataMandir, the Mama Bhanja Mandir, the Radha Krishna Mandir, the Ramdeo Mandir and the Shiv Mandir.


¤ Kalibangan Archaeological Museum

A short distance away from the fort is the Kalibangan Archaeological Museum which would be of great interest to the historically minded. Kalibangan as mentioned earlier was the site where the an ancient civilisation almost as old as the Harappa and Mohenjodaro civilisations flourished.
