¤ Tours
The Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC) offers half day
and full day tours of Jaipur.
Route for half-day tour includes: Hawa Mahal-Amber Fort-Jantar
Mantar-City Palace-Central Museum. It has a break at a craftshop and
lunch at Nahargarh Fort. You might find the half-day tours kind of
hectic and rushed. But they are quite okay if you are in a hurry.
Timings: 8 am - 1 pm, 11.30 am - 4.30 pm and 1.30 - 6.30 pm daily.
Full day tour also includes Nahargarh Fort, Indology Museum, Dolls
Museum, Galta and Sisodia Rani Garden. Timings: 9 am 6 pm.
Contact the Tourist Reception Centre or Tourist office at the railway
station for details.
On Saturdays and Sundays RTDC runs tours (including vegetarian
dinner) to Nahargarh Fort and Chokhi Dhani . Timings: 6 pm - 10 pm.
Want a peek at rural Rajasthan? Hotel Bissau Palace organises tours
to their erstwhile hunting pavilion, The Retreat, about 27km from
Jaipur. From there camel carts take you to nearby villages. This

Jaipur is on National Highway No. 8 (Delhi-Ahmedabad-Mumbai) and
National Highway No. 11 (Agra-Bikaner) and is connected to all parts
of India by road, rail and air.
¤ Intra-city
Buses : City buses originate
in and around Jaipur; the fares are quite low. They start in Amber
from Ajmeri Gate, junc. with MI Road and well if you want a
seat its better to board there than at the Hawa Mahal.
Cabs : Tourist taxis are readily available, but not the
yellow-top taxis that are a familiar sight all over the metros of
India.
Others : Other transport includes 3-wheelers, cycle-rickshaws,
tongas and mini buses.

Bus journeys can be quite tiring, so its a good idea to stick
to them for only short distances. Journeys upto 8 hours include a
45-minute stop. Bus drivers are usually very cooperative and will stop
otherwise emergencies.

Rajasthan Roadways, Haryana Roadways and India Tourism Development
Corporation (ITDC) run deluxe buses between Jaipur and several major
towns. These buses usually have a good frequency and are very
comfortable.
