 |
Bandhavgarh
|
 |
In the morning come out of
your tents and see the beauty of nature at its best. The
chirping of birds and and the sound of shaking leaves in the
breeze takes you in a different world. You need to get up
early and be ready after the breakfast because today we are
going to have elephant safari. After enjoying the ride many
times it might not sound you as a new experience but , in
Bandhvagarh unlike other parks , elephant ride is operated in
two distinct way, first is the same procedure as it is
followed in the rest of the country to hire an elephant for
tow hours and watch the jungle and the second The second, and
slightly more controversial method, is what are called "Tiger
Shows" operated in Bandhavgarh. For these shows, the
mahouts head out in the wee hours of the morning and track
down a tiger. Once the tiger settles down in a spot, the word
is spread and all visitors are taken for short rides from the
nearest point on a jungle track. This, although it ensures
that almost all visitors to the park go back with happy
memories of a "sighting", is never as exciting as
chance sightings from the tracks. This tiger tracking is never
done in the grasslands and once the tigers are on the move
again, the mahouts are prohibited from following them.
In the afternoon we would take lunch in the natural
environment of Bandhavgarh. After lunch we would stroll around
the jungle and spend some time in bird watching. There are
hundred and fifty bird species in Bandhvagarh National park .
Keep a look out for green bee eaters, white bellied drongos,
owls, white browed fantails, steppe eagles, green pigeons,
grey malabar hornbills, black and white malabar hornbills
(quite a rare sighting), blossom headed parakeets, parakeets,
blue bearded bee eaters, Jerdon's and gold fronted leaf birds,
minivets, woodshrikes and the lovely paradise flycatchers. In
the evening we would take a return drive towards our tents.
The chances of spoting birds and animal minimizes in the
evening. Enjoy the Barbecue arranged by us to make a life time
memory. Have drinks , dance around the fire, share your
experiences with others , indulge into merry making. Have
delicious hot dinner served around fire under the open dark
sky in the chilled night. After dinner get into your warm
tents and go to sleep. |
