Attractions of The Trek

Nag Tibba TrekNaag Tibba is situated to the northeast of the Dehradun Valley and is the highest peak in the area, surpassed only by the altitudes at which Har-ki-Dun, Yamunotri and Gangotri are situated. Naag Tibba gets its name from a very old temple of Naag Devta (the Snake God) situated a few yards from the camping ground.

The locals call this place Devta.   It presents an equally stunning view of the Bandarpoonch peak, the Gangotri group of peaks, the Kedarnath peak in the north, to name a few, and that of the Queen of the hills, Mussoorie in the south.
The round trek of 135km starts from Mussoorie and carries on to Naag Tibba, passing through Pantwari, to lead back to Mussoorie via Dewalsari and Thatyur.

Itinerary

DAY 1: Drive 135km from Mussoorie to Pantwari, with packed lunch, across the Yamuna bridge and Nainbagh, along the Yamuna River. A road turns off right from Nainbagh leading to the beautiful village of Pantwari, the roadhead to the trek.

DAY 2: Breakfast and trek 10km on a gradual ascent though a very scenic landscape dotted with small huts of shepherds, to Devta, with packed lunch. The route offers excellent views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. A few huts of the Van Gujjars (nomadic herdsmen) at Devta are usually vacant in the months of September-November, and can be used as night shelter. Dinner and overnight stay in tent or Gujjar huts.

DAY 3: Breakfast and trek 3km along a steep climb to reach Jhandi (the top) from where the Himalayas look amazing. Trek down to Devta, with packed lunch, and further 16km to Dewalsari through a dense beautiful jungle. Dinner and overnight stay at the GMVN rest house located in the midst of a fascinating pine forest.

DAY 4: Breakfast and trek 8km, with packed lunch, to Thatyur, from where you could drive down to Mussoorie (42km).

Best Time for Treks: February to mid-June, and mid-September to end-November.
