Three-Striped Palm Squirrel (Funambulus Palmarum)
Ask any starry-eyed girl in Delhi about her most
romantic wildlife dream and she will surely reply I want
the squirrel to come and feed right off my hand. and believe me,
you wont be disappointed if you try it out.
Just go to a not so crowded park with a packet of potato wafers and a
few nuts and you can win a friend forever. So much so that it will
even pose for you if you want to capture the furry delight on camera.
The friendliest member of the rodent family just needs something to
nibble, and it will put up a performance worthy of an Oscar.
This gregarious little creature can be identified by a set of three
dark stripes running the entire length of its back. It is found all
over the sub-continent, and its shrill cries can be heard all round
the year through the scorching summer heat and winter chill. It
is very active and can be seen running up and down trees, buildings
and parks all day long.
