The Rathanbore national park is one of the most beautiful national parks where the wildlife of India is at its finest best. Ringed in by the Vindhyas and the Aravali and admist tracts of desert is this park spread over a sprawling area of 392 km. The park is famous for its tiger reserve and after was largely benefitted the Government of India’s Project Tiger. Apart from the effervescence of the natural habitat there are number of lakes and perennial streams that run through the river that make this place more beautiful.

The Rathanbore National park in earlier times served as a hunting ground of Maharajas of Jaipur. This national park was declared as a wild life sanctuary in 1957 and in 1974 was made a part of Operation Tiger.

Rathanbore National Park attractions- The Rathanbore National Park has a rich wildlife that includes that includes tiger, leopards, stripped tigers hynneas, sambar deer, blackbucks and Chinkaris and also fine stripped squirrels, Indian flying foxes, Indian porcupines and small Indian mongoose and is also known for amphibians and reptiles.

A Desired Hub For Great Indian Tiger-The 392 sq km of Ranthambhore National Park is perhaps India’s finest example of Project Tiger, a conservation effort started by the government in an attempt to save the dwindling number of tigers in India. Situated near the small town of Sawai Madhopur, the Park has seen its ups and downs, and there were times not so long ago when poachers were having a field day in the Park. But recently thanks to the devoted work of some good field staff the forest has been restored to its old glory and is now seen as a much needed stronghold for the tiger which is battling for survival. What is so special about this Park is the way history and forest have come together to create an amazing landscape not seen in very many places. The rich forest around the fort is littered with ruins that date back to the 10th century. Parts of the fort that lie inside the Park have been reclaimed by nature. Can you imagine the sight of a wild tiger seeking shelter under architectural brilliance on a hot summer day, or a leopard standing majestically on the walls of the old fort?

Safaris-The most exciting aspect of a visit to a wildlife sanctuary is the safari into the jungles, of meeting the unexpected and completely missing the expected. Animals can be seen in a zoo also, but the dangerous thrill of actually encountering a wild beast in its natural habitat is a sure method of testing ones patience and bravado.
