Open ended funds are those which don't have any restrictions on the amount of shares to be issued by the fund. It the demand is high the fund will continue to issue shares. Open ended mutual funds are also bought back by the fund at the end of the day at the NAV (Net Asset Value), so the investors don't need to find for a buyer. Most of the mutual funds are open ended and are very convenient for the investors.
