SRK not Salman’s film to release this Eid

Eid day has always been a red letter day as far as Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is concerned. For the past three years the superstar has ruled the box office with his Eid releases. However recent reports suggest that this year might not be the same instead of Salman, Shah Rukh Khan Starrer “Chennai Express” directed by Rohit Shetty is said to release on Eid day. Reports suggest that Salman Khan has been busy with the CCL (Celebrity Cricket League) and other professional commitments and this is why he wouldn’t be able to complete his movie in time for his favorite festival release.

Salman Khan’s three previous films released during Eid (Wanted, Bodyguard and Ek Tha Tiger) have all been blockbuster grosser at the box office. This would be the first time in three years that Salman would not be able to release his film on this day. Meanwhile Shah Rukh has always selected a Diwali release for his film. With Salman’s film expected to out of the fray it would be King Khan aiming to woo the fans on Eid Day. Speaking of the same an industry insider stated, “Salman bhai had left his mark on the Eid date since the past three years, with Wanted, Bodyguard and Ek Tha Tiger. This year, it could be SRK who could stake a claim to the date, which is also a holiday everywhere.”

However reports also state that it would be a fight against Shah Rukh Khan “Chennai Express” and Sunny Deol’s “Singh Sahab the Great” this Eid at the box office. Apparently there is also a history of tension being Deol and SRK as well. In 1993 both actors shared screen space eachother for Yash Chorpa Film “Daar”. In the film Sunny played the main lead with Juhi Chawla and SRK played the negative character. The film catapulted Shah Rukh Khan to instant success. Sunny Deol felt sidelined by director Yash Chopra and hence vowed to never to work with the veteran. Since then both SRK and Sunny have apparently stayed away from eachother.
