It was just fate or the decision that was invariably the turning point in her career.  She aspired to pursue a medical profession. However she found it difficult to adapt and contend with the requirements of her career. She did change her stream and decided to become a CA but fate again has something else in store and she ended up becoming a supermodel and gradually paved her way into films. Today she is considered among the top actresses in the bollywood industry. She has delivered in terms of the roles and have provided example of good characterization.

Bipasha Basu Early life- Bipasha was born on the 7thJanuray, 1979 in Delhi. The family later located to Kolkata.  The second of three children Bipasha was bought in a Hindu Bengali family. Her name means ‘deep dark desire’ and is also the name of a river.  Her siblings are Bidasha and BIjoyeta. She considered a tomboy in her early days and was known for her dark complexion. She aspired to pursue a profession in medicine. However the actress literally passed out while dissecting a rat.

She soon after switched her stream to commerce and aspired to become a Chartered Accountant. However Bipasha was spotted by Mehr Jessia Rampal who suggested that she take up acting. In 1996 she won the Godrej Cinthol Supermodel Contest and later won the Ford models Supermodel of the world contest. Hence she started her modeling career at the age of 17. In her stinct as a model before making her plunge in to films the actress graced as many as 25 cover pages.

Bipasha Basu Film Career- Bipasha Basu made her debut with Abbas Mustan’s Ajnabee (2001) opposite Akshay Kumar. The film was inspired by the Disconcerting Adults. The film raked in moderate returns at the box office and the reviews were also negative. The negative role she essayed in the film was appreciated by the critics. Prior to this the actress was offered the role of Himalayaputra that was the debut film of Akshay Khanna. But she was regarded too young to essay that role.

In 2000 she was offered the role of Refugee but declined it as well. In 2002 the actress starred in the film Raaz directed by Vikram Bhatt. The film was a success at the box office.  In the very next she played the role of serial scheming seductress in the movie opposite John Abraham. With the success and the breakthrough she received 2004 was hear of heart breaks and can well be called the lean patch of her career. None of her films did well at the box office and it was a year filled with desperation. She returned the next years and delivered with two hit films that is NO entry and Phir Hera Pheri (2005). Both these comedies were loved by the audience and this was also the first time when the actress was essaying two back to back comic films. 

2006 can well be said as the best year of the actress and her films Corporate, Omkara, and Dhoom 2. She received acclaim in particular for her role in Corporate. At the same time her item song in the film Omkara was one of the chartbusters of the year.  In the next years she also returned with another hit Race  2  starring actors  Saif Ali Khan, Katrina Kaif and  Akshaye Khanna. In 2008, Bipasha had another hit in her kitty with Race while her performance in Bachna Ae Haseeno was appreciated.

In 2009, her first release of the year was, Aa Dekhen Zara, with Neil Nitin Mukesh. The film was a flop. She was next seen in All The Best along with Ajay Devgan. 2010 saw Bipasha in the experimental film, Pankh, the Bengali film Shob Charitro Kalponik, and Lamhaa with Sanjay Dutt. She then went on to star in Dum Maaro Dum (2011) and Players (2012). Both these films underperformed as far as box office indices are concerned. She also appeared alongside Madhavan in Jodi Breakers. The film did not do that well at the box office and opened up to negative reviews.

Her latest film Raaz 3 which saw her make a comeback after refusing Raaz 3 was hit however it received a mixed mandate as far as critic were concerned. Many critics pointed out that Bipasha was the sole saving grace of the movie and played her part as expected. She also made her debut with the film Roland Joffé’s epic drama Singularity  which premiered at the Cannes Film  Festival in May.

Bipasha Basu Upcoming films- Her upcoming movies include Race 2 where she is slated to make a guest appearance. She has also signed a horror movie title Aatma. According to latest announcement and reports the actress is slated to play the role of Bobby in the second installment of No entry titled ‘No entry mein entry’ in 2013.

Bipasha Basu personal Life- Bipasha personal life has been one that has been most discussed and commented about. She was first in a relationship with her co model Dino Morea. This relationship dated back to the time when they were bought models. However the couple broke up in the year 2002. In 2002 following the success of Jism (2003) and the two were candid shared a very candid relationship. The Indian media branded the couple as the top super couple of India.

However the couple split in the year 2011. In personal life the actress is immensely outgoing person and enjoys the company of friends. The actress is also known for her Yoga Videos. However there is an interesting story surrounding this. The actress was diagnosed with osteoarthritis and was advised by the physician to work out.

Bipasha Basu Yoga Videos- The actress is known to be extremely  health conscious and has continued to work out following the  rare  medical condition. She also regularly performs Yoga. She has released a fitness DVD and is working on another called 'Unleash' and 'Break free'.

Bipasha Basu Controversies- Bipasha Basu is not a stranger as far as controversy is concerned.  The first commercial for Calida with her then-boyfriend Dino Morea which was controversial for picturising them sultrily. The commercial was banned at the time.  The ad was considered as one of the most controversial ads of the 1990’s. Actress Bipasha Basu  landed herself in a major controversy regarding child labor after posting a picture of two girls tying her shoelaces on Twitter. The actress has also been known for her linkups.

While in after party following the announcement of the new wonders of the world in 2007, the actress was caught in a lip lock with a Portuguese striker Christianio Ronaldo. The actress also broke up with John Abraham after her apparent link-ups first with co-star Rana Daggubati and then with Hollywood’s Josh Hartnett, came the infamous tape scandal.

Bipasha Basu latest news-  The actress  has been recently recovering from the viral fever that she suffered  in the last weeks of September.  The actress finally took some time out and rested after her back to back hectic schedules that have been challenging for her.
