There are some politicians who make a name for themselves through services. Though there are many who doubt his creditionals and political prowess. However he cannot be neglected as an important part of Maharashtra. Undoubtedly he is yet to rise to the fore and certainly his prowess rests in his ability to channelize the public mandate in favor of the party and lead revival.
Uddhav Thackeray Early life- He was born on the 27thof July, 1960 in Mumbai. Being born to Bal Thackeray it was but obvious that he would follow the traits of his father mass communicator and politician Balasaheb Thackeray. From his early childhood itself he grew as an ardent follower of the party and also Hinduism. From his childhood itself he was inclined to photography much like his father who was very much artistically inclined.
Uddhav Thackeray Political Career- Before his stinct as executive president of the Shiv Sena he was actively involved the publication Saamna. He was also actively involved in election campaigning and activities. He formed and active part of the party support base in election campaigning in the BMC election of2002. Thereafter he was appointed as the party president in 2003. Difference between Thackeray and his former Shiv Sena Leader Narayan Rana culminated in the expulsion of the Rane from the Shiv Sena. The turnaround in his career and his party came in 2005. There was a pertinent question of deciding the future of the party and who would shoulder the responsibility of Executive president. He was selected as the president and this led to the apparent fallout between the cousins Raj and Uddhav.
Raj Thackeray left the party and went on to form his own political outfit of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). The Shiv Sena under the aegis of Uddhav Thackeray was able to secure and reconstitute their hold on the Mumbai municipality. However the party was unable to secure a manadate in the Assembly election of 2009 and the party was could not secure the amount of votes to become the principal party in the opposition. However ever since as Executive president of the party his efforts have been intended to regain the mandate and build on the party’s image and gain political ground.
Uddhav Thackeray Personal Life- Uddhav Thackeray is married to Rashmi Thackery and the couple has two children Aditya and Tejas Thackeray. Aditya Thackeray is the currently the head of the Yuva Sena. Uddhav Thackeray loves reading but his main interests in with the lines. He is avid photographer and wild life enthusiast has a wide collection of nature photography. On 16th July, 2012 he was admitted to the Lilavati Hospital following after complaining of chest pain. He underwent an angioplasty and three of his arterial blocks were successfully removed as part of the operation. On 23th July he was discharged from the hospital following surgery.

Uddhav Thackeray Books- He has published a book ‘Maharashtra Desha.” This book is a depiction of the heritage of Maharashtra and consists of a series of ariel photographs. Mumbai Desha is a collection that speaks of the life of Mumbai. Kankar Desha is about the strongholds of Shivaji Maharaja. Pavitra Desha is about temples and has a collection of caves like Ajanta and Ellora, Kanheri and Karla. Jeevan Desha is about the rivers of Maharashtra. Adbhut Desha is a collection of photography related to wild life and natural resources.
Uddhav Thackeray Controversies- Uddhav Thackeray has been known for controversial comments about matter and individuals. On the 5th September 2012 he made a controversial statement that migrant Biharis be given permits in Mumbai. His comments garnered criticsm as the law states that an Indian is free to stay in any part of the country. A complaint was filed at the Muzaffarpur court, following which the CJM of the court directed the police to lodge an FIR against him.

Uddhav hails CM for irrigation probe
Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday congratulated Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan for "showing courage" in launching a departmental inquiry against officials of the Vidarbha Irrigation Development Corporation (VIDC). The Maharashtra Chief Minister has ordered a departmental probe against 45 VIDC officials indicted in the Vadnere Committee report in 2010. The departmental inquiry had been pending for two years.
