A s mentioned the place is an important Buddhists place of pilgrimage that is frequented both by tourists and believers alike. The Buddhist monasteries that are called Gonpa are significant places of worship and as such is frequented by both believers and non believers alike. The main places of worship in the region include Khromteng Gonpa, Urgyen Ling Gonpa both of them are important places of worship. Both were consecrated by the 6th Dalai Lama and both have the same of construction. The other Gompa includes Tsanpu Gompa and Kyimgney Gompa. The Bagajang Gompa situated in the mountains is nestled in the mountain top and is revered. In around the there are different carved and formed rocks. Ayakdhung Gonpa established by one of the first disciples of Dalai Lama. Drakar Gonpa situated against the background of the mountains and is founded on dark rock and hence the name. Kharung Gonpa this is also an important place of worship. Namshu Gonpa was Lama Tenpai Dronmai also founded this monastery. There is a Maitreya statue of two storeys high in the monastery. Jang Chub Choeling Nunnery. This Buddhist institute was built during the time of Merag Lama. There are around fifty nuns practicing mainly Vajra Yogini, and the mantra of Green Tara in the nunnery.
