Situated in the West Kameng District Bomdila is enriched with natural beauty. The places to see in Bomdila are:
Tawang Town- Tawang town is a peaceful and serene town in the region of Bomdila. The region is blessed with breathtaking values and Dirang. Located at an altitude of 3400 meters above sea level te town is known for its picturesque location that is both quaint and filled with effervescence. Apart from the town itself the other places that tourist can visit include that of the Buddhist Monasteries. Most of the Buddhist monasteries in the region date back to the 17th century. Nestled with nature these sanctums of prayer and devotion radiate a truly divine ambience. It is also one of the most important Buddhist pilgrim center in the north eastern region with as many as 14 Buddhist temples in all.
Apple orchids- The Apple Orchids of Bomdila are enriched with nature and give the tourists a feel and ambience of traversing in a garden that is just paradise. The experience of walking through the orchids is really fruitful. The sight of the apples hanging in the trees and at the same time the aroma of the ripe apples is a certainly a wonderful experience. During the season of winters the apples are in full bloom as there laden with fruits and nature is at is supreme and wonderful best and most certainly the best time to visit and explore the region.
Buddhist monasteries- A s mentioned the place is an important Buddhists place of pilgrimage that is frequented both by tourists and believers alike. The Buddhist monasteries that are called Gonpa are significant places of worship and as such is frequented by both believers and non believers alike. The main places of worship in the region include Khromteng Gonpa, Urgyen Ling Gonpa both of them are important places of worship. Both were consecrated by the 6th Dalai Lama and both have the same of construction. The other Gompa includes Tsanpu Gompa and Kyimgney Gompa. The Bagajang Gompa situated in the mountains is nestled in the mountain top and is revered. In around the there are different carved and formed rocks. Ayakdhung Gonpa established by one of the first disciples of Dalai Lama. Drakar Gonpa situated against the background of the mountains and is founded on dark rock and hence the name. Kharung Gonpa this is also an important place of worship. Namshu Gonpa was
Lama Tenpai Dronmai also founded this monastery. There is a Maitreya statue of two storeys high in the monastery. Jang Chub Choeling Nunnery. This Buddhist institute was built during the time of Merag Lama. There are around fifty nuns practicing mainly Vajra Yogini, and the mantra of Green Tara in the nunnery.
Orchid Research and Development- This place certainly deserves the tag of belong named as tourist destination. The simple reason being the efforts taken to enrich and develop the orchids that area an important feature of the landscape and an indelible part of the region. Spread in almost a landscape of 112.8 acres the landscape is known for the close to 450 orchid species and the 20 rare endangered species that are kept under close watch and efforts are on to preserve form further extinction. At present there are about 500 odd orchids in the place. There is also a fibre glass enclosure wherein the orchids are housed. This place that would attracts nature lovers and those interested in the same. By it is also flocked by normal tourists as well.
Craft Centre & Ethnographic Museum- Another example of vibrancy of this region. Situated in Lower Gompa this region is famous as a center that produces some of the finest and the most exquisite craft and in terms of fine carpets, wall hangings and other embroidery and handicraft. Under the able guidance of the State government the center has been able to generate more information and knowledge about the region and its vast and rich culture It is also a perfect place for shopping for souvenirs and handicrafts .
The region is enriched and at the same time rich in culture and traditions and places to know and visit. In all ways Bomdila serves as a perfect stopover for those desirous of blissful and refreshing holiday.
