The Ita is a testimony of a bygone era and the bastion of the Ahom empire that ruled the north eastern territory in the in around the 12 century. Situated in an area of almost one square kilometer the forth derives its name from the bricks that were used for construction of the fortress. Today it might be in its splendor but even in its present form is a reminder of the dynasty and the distinctive architectural style.
