Makarpura Palace

Another example of the royalty and benevolence of the Gaekwad family, the distinctive feature of the state palace is the distinctive architecture that is incompliance with Italian and renaissance style of architecture.  This façade and architectural style has maintained its distinctiveness all through the years.



This palace served as the royal summer residence of the family despite the fact that the royal family spends most of their holidays in the Nilgiris. The timely renovation of the years has enhanced the feel of the place and renewed its distinctive splendor.  The palace today is used and currently houses the elite Indian air force.
