Places to see in Deoghar

Deoghar or the house of God as it is called and invoked is one of the most sacrosanct places to visit. Religious fervor and dedications rests in the place and this holistic and sacrosanct pilgrimage place.  Religious and faithful flock to the place for recollection and spiritual reorientation is one of the prime reasons that make pilgrims and tourists flock in devotion and a mind of sincere and heartfelt reverence.

Places to see in Deoghar

The places to see in the holy city of Deoghar are:

Baba Baidyanath Temple- This is one of the most mystical and sacrosanct and places of worship and is considered as one of the sacred abodes of the Lord Shiva.  This is located on the north eastern frontier of the city of Deoghar. The temple complex of Baidyanath houses more than 21 temples around the Jyothirlingams of the main temple. The complex if flocked pilgrims all through the calendar year and in particular during the time of Shivarani Mela that is organized every year and runs for a whole month in the months of July to August. Pilgrims at the complex experience an unparallel joy and spiritual bliss while visiting the temple complex of Baidyanath. Many pilgrims and faithful who have visited and continue to visit the temple recall their unique spiritual experiences of the temples. Their examples and experience assert the title and make this holy collection of sanctums a truly sacrosanct location.

Devsangaha Mutt- The Devsangaha mutt or ashram founded by Narendra Nath Brahamacharaya is one of the most sacred locations and also known for the Devsangaha association. Situated at about 3km from the Baidyanath Temple and also houses a Durga temple. The Durga temple exhibits distinctive architectural features of Bengali temple construction. The inner sanctums of the temple are adorned with images of Krishna, Annapurna and Mahaeshwari. The temple is flocked by tourist and pilgrims particularly at the festivities of Durga Puja and is also celebrated with religious fervor and pomp.

Harila Jori- This is situated at about 8 km form Deoghar and five kilometers from the Baidyanath temple. Mythological this place is believed to have been the place where Ravana gifted the Lord Vishnu with a lingam that was gifted in the guise of a swami.  This is also considered to be the place where Lord Shiva and the Lord Vishnu met and hence this place is called as Harila Jori.

Pagla Baba Ashram- This is situated at a distance of 8km from the Tower Chowk. This Ashram was founded by the Linanda Thakur also synonymous among the locals as Pagla baba who was a resident of Bangladesh.  The Ashram has idols of the Lord Krishna and Radha devi. The ambience of the environment is enveloped with an essence of devotion and sacrosanct from the chants and the holy prayers that are recited with fervor and devotion.

Rikhia Rogasharam- This is also considered as one of the most revered locations in the temple town of Deoghar, known also for the ancient temples that are housed in the complex. The ashram was founded by the Holy Sage Satyananada Saraswati and founded the first Ashram in the region. The characteristic feature of this Ashram is the one well-regarded in and around the town and is also known for the maintenance of world class standards.

Lila Temple- Situated in the district headquarters of Deoghar, this temple is dedicated to the goddess Kali. Although there is very limited information available pertaining to the builder or the founder of the temple this is also one of the most revered and visited shrines in the city.

Nalukha Temple- The construction pattern and the façade of the temple is similar to that of the Ramakrishna temple. The distinctive feature of the temple is the 146 feet tall idols of Lord Krishna and Radha that are visited by tourist and  offers an example of love and spirituality,

Baiju temple- This name for the three temples that are housed in the complex.  Situated just after the market square, this temple is considered as one of the most sacrosanct location and is sent to built by the royal pujaris of the Baidyanath temple.  The temple is named after a Bhil Boy who is said to have imparted knowledge from the rock and is also believed to have exhibited a firm spirit of devotion and untarnished reverence for which he was blessed and the temple is known by this child.

Maa Paravati Temple- This historic 18thcentury temple dedicated to the Goddess Durga is located opposite of the Baidyanath temple. This temple is also known for its rich culture and historical importance.

Kundshewari temple- This temple is one of the later temples to be constructed but is also an important place of worship and is placed in the picturesque and placid Chandan hills that is located near the temple.

Maa Shitla temple- This sacred place of worship is revered as a holy place of worship and is also known around the town as also known for the curative powers that have attributed to the temple.

Religious fervor and dedication is the essence of this temple city and as such is also revered for the experience of faith of the pilgrims and the lay faithful who place their recourse.
