This temple is one of the important places to visit in hill station of Coorg. This temple is dedicated to the deity of the Lord Shiva. This temple was built by the ruling King of Coorg in 1820, Lingarajendra II and was built fourteen year before ruler were banished from Coorg. There is a legend the temple has been passed down over the years that the temple was built by the king in order to appease the soul of the Brahmin. The temple exhibits distinctive style of both gothic and Muslim Architecture. Built in te Muhammad style of Architecture the façade of the temple has a wide circumference dome in the center and has four turrets at four corners. The temple is also similar to that of the Islamic style. The temple has lingam in the front that was installed by the King. The lingam was brought from the from the north as a protection from the Brahmin‘s soul. The temple is also known for the pilgrims that visit with religious fervor and also for those who are come from spiritual healing and protection.
