Places to see in Mohali

Mohali is enriched in terms of rich history and culture and at the same time is also progressing on the part of economic growth and development. Mohali is very rooted in its past and yet contemporary in its outlook and approach and hence offers tourists a truly offered a number of prospects in terms of places to visit.

Hence the places to visit in Mohali are:

Rose Garden- The Rose Garden is also known as the Dr Zakir Rose garden that was established in the year 1967.It is considered as the largest rose garden in Asia and is filled with a wide variety of close to 17000 plants and close to 1,600 variety of roses. The garden, apart from roses, has a variety of plants and trees such as bahera, yellow-gulmohar and camphor, some of which are medicinal as well. A major cultural event, known as the Rose Festival, is organised here in the months of February and March.

Rock Garden- The Rock Garden is located in sector 1 and is located between capitol complex and Sukhna lake. The entrance of the garden is decked with an array of rocks, broken chinaware, boulders, discarded fluorescent tubes as well as broken and cast away glass bangles. The creator of the park has made use of various other materials, such as building wastes, coal and clay, to form different figures like palaces, temples, soldiers, villages, monkeys and women. Other major attractions of the garden include a waterfall, numerous pools and an open air theatre.

Gurudwara Amb Sahib- This place has a deep significance both in terms of history and culture. It is believed to be place where Bhai Koram from Kabul traveled to Amritsar to meet Guru Arjan Devand however, he was empty handed and felt ashamed of himself. When the darbar ended, mangoes were distributed as Prasad and a mango was also given to Bhai Kooram who did not consume it. The next day, he offered the same mango to the guru during darbar, but the guru asked Bhai Kooram to eat that mango and promised him that one day his offering will be accepted. The Gurudwara is famous for the mango tree that was planted  and this bears fruit very season and the fruits are distributed as Prasad.

Gurudwara Sant Mandal Angitha Sahib- This is located in sector 62 of Mohali and is clearly visible from the Gurudwara Amb Sahib. It is believed that Bhai Kooram ji and Saint Baba Iswar Singh meditated here. Both these saints worked in their right towards the development of the Sikhism. The  Gurudwara building is known for the fine milky white samads and tombs on the roof of the Gurudwara.

Gurudwara Singh Shaeedan- This Gurudwara is located in the Sohana village of  Mohali district and was constructed in memory of the martyrs of the Anglo Sikh War. The old building of the Gurdwara has been destroyed and a new building is under construction. The building has a Darbar Sahib, Darbar Shahid Sahib, Sarover Sahib, a Langar hall and a kitchen.

Naba Sahib- This is also one of the most revered Sikh places of worships.  Sikh devotees, who come to pay homage to Guru Tegh Bahadur here, also visit the samadh or mazhar of the Muslim faqir in the vicinity of the shrine. Banda Singh Bahadur, in 1709, stopped here to pay homage to Guru Tegh Bahadur and Dargahi Shah Faqir. Jor Mela, an annual fair, is organised here in the month of September.

Gurudwara Puddha Sahib- This is a popular religious centers among the Sikh pilgrims and is also known as a place the wishes of the devotees will be fulfilled. After the death of Dada Bikram Singh a cemetery was built in his honor. The Gurudwara has a Darbar Sahib Sarovar Sahib and a Yaad Ghar and a memorial in the memory of Peer Puddhu Shah.
 
Sukna lake- Sukhna lake is an artificial lake that is based in the Shivalik Lake and the three kilometer long lake was said to have been created  by blocking rain water through the Sukhna Choe, The lake is for activities like boating, rafting, rowing and Yachting and is also a home for number of migratory birds that perch over the lake.

Mohali Cricket Stadium- A travelogue of Mohali would be incomplete without the Mohali Cricket Stadium.  This is one of the largest cricketing vicinities in India with a capacity of almost 45,000 and the stadium has been witness to many cricketing encounters. Even the grandest stage of them the entire ICC world cup.  The cricket stadiums and as such is also equipped with the most  modern facilities for cricketing and also complete with world class facilities that all match global standards.

Mansi Devi temple- this is also one of the Seed peeths in the district of Mohali. Devi Sati's head fell here. There are primarily two temples among which, the one located near the parking lot is the main temple and was established in 1815. The other temple was recently built by the Maharaja of Patiala. There is also a beautiful garden near the Mansa Devi Temple that displays a variety of sacred plants.

Thunder zone amusement and water park- Thunder Zone Amusement and Water Park, inaugurated on 15th May 2002, is situated in Chandigarh. It covers an area of around 11 acres and has rides like the octopus ride, columbus ride and caterpillar ride. The splash, striking car, boat club, swinging chairs and music bob are some of the other rides available. The water park, located inside the amusement park, consists of four pools having various water rides.

Sukhna Wildlife sanctuary- Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary is a beautiful place situated north-east of the Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh. This sanctuary covers an area of around 2600 hectares and forms a part of the Sukhna Lake Catchment.

Travelers  seek most in tourists destination, relaxation and rejuvenation and most of all a perfect stop over specially for those  who want to spend some quality time away from the cauldron and humdrum of life on the fast lane.  In this aspect Mohali fits the bill.
