Apart from that there is the Enchey Monastery, Rumtek Monastery and Tashiding Monastery. In terms of adventure sport the first and the best thing to do in Gangtok is trekking.
There is a lot of scope for trekking and steep challenges are pose by the mountainous topography. Equipment for trekking is easily available and the Government of Sikkim has also permitted for the same. The best season for trekking in Gangtok is from April to May and from October to November. The Best time to visit Gangtok is the season from October to June.
Being a metropolitan hill town Gangtok offers tourist the best of facilities in terms of discotheques, clubs, eateries restaurant sand places to stay. Tourist can choose from restaurants that offer both moderate and luxury accommodations in Gangtok. The weather in Gangtok is usually pleasant; however the rains can be unpredictable and as such inclement at times. Hence it is not advisable to visit in the rainy season. Travelling in the city is also not a problem the city offers a very good transport system. Getting to Assam is not a problem as there are flights and trains to the city.
