Bryant Park
This Park is one of the best in terms of natural vegetation and swelling nature that is spread over 20.5 acres of land. This is also one of the most picturesque places in the city and is referred to as simply the garden of wholeness. This is also one of the best planned and at the same time one of bets planned and protected natural vicinity. Established and planned by the British ranger HD Bryant who served as forest officer in Madurai. The park is situated in the eastern part of the lake and within a walking distance.
The park is home to as many as 300 species of plants and 740 species of rose and also has a Eucalyptus tree that is well over 160 years old and an ancient tree of the bodhis. The place also known for the neelakurinji botanically known as Strobilanthes kunthiana. These purplish blue flowers grow in the Nilgiris hills and are known for the to grow in the region. The most peculiar feature of this flower is that it flowers only once in twelve years and is a rare phenomenon.
