Places to see in Uttarkashi

One of the most serene and sacred ‘teerth’ pilgrimage places in the Uttaranchal. The places to see in Uttarkashi are:

Dodi Tal- This is one of the most serene and tranquil locations in Uttarkashi. This is one of the fresh water sources in the region. Apart from that the Dodi Tal is also believed to be the place where the birthplace of the Lord Ganesha. Situated at an elevation of 3,048 meters above sea level the Tal of the lake is known for the pine, oak and other deciduous trees of the region. The place is also known as the ecology habitat of the Himalayan trout that is a breed of fish. However the depth of the lake is not known and there are many factors that are largely unknown to the region. Despite the concealed facts the lakes with its pristine beauty and charm certainly enamors the visitor.

Maneri- This is situated on the Gangotri route and is a place that at no case can be missed. Maneri is also known for the village that is situated which is the most important attraction. Nestled in the bosom of nature with its pristine and clandestine beauty the region is that is the main attraction of those visiting the village. This is a peaceful place a peace and serenity that is not found in the humdrum and the cauldron of life on the fast lane.

Ekadash Rudra Temple- This is one of the most important places of worship and pilgrimage places in the hallowed town of Uttarkashi. The temple is located by the banks of the river Bhagirathi.  This temple welcomes pilgrims and lay faithful form all over and is revered as a sacrosanct place of worship and tourist flock to the place with unceasing devotion.

Dariya Bugyal- This is one of the quaintest high altitudes meadows in the holy town of Uttarkashi.  The beauty of this meadow is unparallel to another region and renders a unique distinctiveness. The meadow is also known for the mountain and its slopes that are perfect for skiing in the in the winter months.  There is a small lake that is located which is perfect for those who are in awe of the great outdoors and are ready to pitch camp there.

Duryodana temple- This temple is one of the few temple in the country by this name the others being mainly in Kerala and Maharashtra. This temple is situated in the Jakholi district and is also situated next to the tons valley and is in the upper valley of the river tons.  The temple is said to be constructed by the local residents of Saur. There is a popular folklore that is associated with the temple it is believed that inhabitants were so depressed by the defeat of the Kauravasa and Duryodana in particular that they cried without respite and their tears  formed the river Tons . The belief is that the tears have never welled and these tears is one of the reason why the river still flows and is in full flow throughout the year.

There are some things that senses cannot comprehend and in its situation faith is what serves to compensate. Nestled with pristine nature and effervescence the place truly sums up the whoile wonder of Uttaranchal.
