Places to see in Kalimpong

Durpin Dahar- the place is situated at an altitude of 1402 meters and is within close proximities of the Jalapa Pass and the Sikkim Range. Within walking distance from Kalimpong the region is known for its natural beauty and at the same time in clandestine beauty. The environment in and around Durpin Dahar is simply embellished with nature and as such is worthy of the being place to visit.  Some much so that the great poet and Nobel Prize winner Rabindranath Tagore wrote some of his inspirational works in this place.

Nurseries- For a place embodied with a nature, the various nurseries of Kalimpong are certainly a sight for the traveler and a delight for nature lovers.  There are number of nurseries in Kalimpong both that of private and public nature. The main flower found in the nurseries of Kalimpong includes gladioli cactus, orchids, roses, dahlias, ornamental plants etc.

Mangal Dham Parnami Mandir- This Hindu place of worship is situated on Relli Road and is one of the recently constructed temples in the region. A kilometer’s distance from the town square. The temple houses high statues of Lord Krishna in the prayer hall.

Mangal Dham Mandir- Sprawling around two acres the Mangal is considered as one of the most finest and ornate temples in India. On the ground floor of the Dham there is the Samadhi of the reverent Guru. The prayer hall is located on the top floor of the Dham. There in the Prayer hall is kept a statue of the Ram Shayamji the founder and spiritual Guru as well as Shri Pranath and the other eight Gurus. The ambience of the prayer is filled with reverence. The simple insides of the prayer hall offer tourists irrespective of the time of their visit a perfect and serene tranquility for prayer and meditation.

Zong dong Parli Fo Brang Monastery- situated near the Durpin Dahar, this monastery is one of the most sacred and unique monasteries in the hill station of Kalimpong. This Tharpa Chorling monastery belongs to the yellow Hat monks of the Lama sect.

Pedong monastery- This monastery of Bhutanese origin is one of te oldest monasteries in the town and also serves an important landmarks. The oldest monastery in the region is the Thongsa monastery.

Mac Farlane church- this church is an important part of the Church in Kalimpong and has deep significance to the people and the resisdensrt of Kalimpong. The church premises is also known as an educational center and at the same also has  township that was the first in the region of Kalimpong complete with a dairy, bakery, poultry farm and vegetable gardens.

St. Teresa Church- This is one of the oldest churches in the region of Kalimpong and is said to be built completely by the local workmen of the city.  The church structure has a resemblance to that of a Buddhist monastery.  The characteristic feature of this church is the convergence of the catholic faith with that of the Buddhist way of life and understanding and hence the wall painting and windows panes bear paintings of the biblical scenes with characters as Buddhist ministers and monks.

Deolo Hill- Deolo hill is a perfect travel destination with replete accommodation and is a perfect residence places. The place is highly preferred for accommodation as it offers the tourists spending some time in the bosom of nature enrichment and fullness.

Kalimpong Arts and Craft center- This center was founded as per the efforts of the Mrs. Graham. This is a thriving center in terms of carpet weaving, dyeing, tailoring, painting, leather crafts and carpentery and tourists flock to the region to but te finest and the most rare pieces of art and handicraft that are of the best quality and highly valued.
