Simply worded Alibag refers to the Garden of Ali. This coastal town is often referred to as the Goa of Maharashtra. Invariably so the Alibag is surrounded on three sides by water. Hence Alibag is a perfect Getaway destination for those who wish to indulge in water sports and those who like to spend their weekends. Over the turn of the years this town has become a perfect holiday and camping destination for residents of Mumbai and those residing in various parts of the state of Maharashtra. Alibag Tourism has grown from the fact that the town caters to the needs of tourists in search of serenity and who wish to reside in the tranquility of the seaside. This is because the town has been able to maintain itself well specially the subtropical ecosystem of palms and lacunae and orchids that have untouched despite the fact that development and inhabitation has been sprung on this Laconia town.

This tranquil and unsullied town boasts of a rich fabric of the present and the same time also bears the affluence of a bygone era. It is one of the strategic points for the first Immigrants to India the Bene Israelis and become the strategic naval point of Shivaji Maharaja’s Maratha Empire. The Kulaba fort once a Marathi strong hold is a favored tourist spot. The other place to see in Alibag includes the picturesque beaches at Kihim, Varsoli and Nagaon which popularly attract tourists. If you are looking for peaceful seclusion then the Thal Beach is also preferred tourist getaway. The Kaneshwar temple that comprises of small temples dedicated to Paleshwar, Lord Hanuman, Lord Krishna and Lord Shiva.

Alibag is situated at the Southern tip of the metropolis of Mumbai. To get the town form Mumbai is the easiest as takes approximately three hours by road and roughly an hour by ferry.  

There are many factors that allure individuals to come and spend a weekend or a well earned win the true spirit of rejuvenation and frolic. The sun clad beaches, the weather, the immaculate and well preserved ecosystem of flora and fauna. However the best time for visiting Alibag is the months of March to September.
